Time flies, it’s already the middle of April and I have only a couple of weeks left in Hong Kong. Nonnie is in Australia with her sister Jo, visiting family and friends, having a great time, while I am here alone, having perhaps not as great time. For one thing the weather here has been strange; hot and humid (98%) and dark and rainy - today was the first day for a week I could read in the morning without turning on the lamp.
I’ve gone to a couple of movies this week; Anomalisa and LIFE. Both were good if not great, and the theater was very comfortable. Anomalisa won the Oscar for best animated film this year. Watching a movie here is just like watching one in the US, except that here everyone sits and watches the credits at the end of the movie, as if they want to get all the value for their money, or maybe they think it is disrespectful to walk out before the movie is over.
I went to Yung Shue Wan yesterday and ate a late breakfast at the Waterfront restaurant. I had never been there before as it is not on the main road, and it’s nice to know that I am still finding new and good places. The view was great, and the breakfast was a good version of the “Big English Breakfast,” which is not my favorite, like bacon and eggs but with tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, and sausage. Every B and B in the UK serves the same breakfast.
So far I have taken thousands of pictures, which is easy to do with a digital camera. Before I would take three shots of a picture that interested me, now I take ten. So I have many very similar pictures and I tell myself that I am going to go through all the pictures and delete the ones I don’t want - but I don’t. The road to hell, and a full hard drive, is paved with good intentions.
Tomorrow night Nonna arrives from Sydney, via Bangkok. She arrives late so we will stay at the airport hotel and take the bus home Tuesday morning. I’m looking forward to seeing her!
